The former site of a metal works warehouse in Leith is set to be transformed after Scotland's leading regeneration specialist The Burrell Company received planning permission for a new residential development at 31 Assembly Street.
The conversion of the B-Listed warehouse will form 11 apartments with a further 15 new-build apartments including ground floor commercial space. The properties will be grouped around an attractive courtyard area with large glass and timber screens opening up the living areas to Edinburgh's evening sun.
Assembly Street will be designed by leading architects Sutherland Hussey, and will offer affordable modern one and two bed apartments aimed for the city's first time buyers.
Andrew Burrell, Managing Director of The Burrell Company, said: "This former warehouse is located in an area which is becoming one of the capital's most sought after areas with a great deal of amenities and transport links within close proximity.
"I'm delighted to give this forgotten B-Listed property a new lease of life in what will be an attractive and vibrant housing community offering something for those keen to take their first step on the property ladder."
Charles Sutherland of Sutherland Hussey Architects said: "This new development will be a welcome addition to the area of Leith and a must for first time buyers. I'm looking forward to working with The Burrell Company to help create an exciting new place to live."
