The new two-bedroom apartment on Waterfront Avenue has been kitted out to appeal to first time buyers, young professionals and families. Prices range from £125,000 to £187,000, with secure underground parking facilities available under separate negotiation. A £99 reservation fee and solicitors details are the only requirements needed to secure one of the properties.
Many of the one and two bedroom apartments available have already been sold at the first phase of Upper Strand development, which is part of the larger Waterfront Edinburgh Ltd regeneration programme, a joint venture between urban regeneration specialists, The Burrell Company, and The Places for People Group.
Further properties available to view include one and two bedroom walk-through apartments. Visitors will have the chance to see a variety of different apartment styles on offer in both.
One of the key features of the light and spacious apartments have full height glazing. Supplied by leading manufacturer, ALNO, the kitchen is fitted with Bosch appliances. The bathroom is stylishly designed with a white suite and chrome fittings and bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. Timber laminate flooring is fitted in the hallway, living and kitchen areas.
Upper Strand, involving two award winning architects, Edinburgh-based Reiach and Hall and Glasgow-based Elder and Cannon, has already been recognised as one of the best examples of housing design, layout and landscaping in the UK, after being named Best Housing Project at the National HomeBuilder Design Awards last year. The development has also been shortlisted by the Scottish Design Awards 2006 as a potential 'Proposed Place Making' winner.
Andrew Burrell, Managing Director of The Burrell Company, said: "The Upper Strand development is a really exciting project to be involved in as the entire Waterfront area is in the process of being transformed into a vibrant urban community, appealing to people who want to live on the waterfront, but still within close proximity to the city centre."
"The smartly designed and styled show home reflects the lifestyle that is on offer and gives potential home owners, looking for an affordable property, the chance to see the finished look of the apartments."
The area, which is already home to the new Scottish Gas headquarters and the new £32 million Telford College campus, currently under construction, will see up to 8,500 homes developed over the next 15 years.
Homeowners will also have the chance to view the overall plans for the development at the company's Research and Development Centre at the Upper Strand site, open daily from 10am - 5.30pm. These include tree-lined boulevards, wide walkways and cycle paths, leading to squares and piazzas enhanced by sculpture, water features and extensive planting. Additional features also include stunning views over the Firth of Forth and Fife from a number of properties and a sophisticated recycling waste system, which is the first of its kind in the UK, and an environmentally friendly heating system.
Colin Rae, Development Director in Scotland for The Places for People Group, added: "These properties are perfect for house hunters looking to snap up an apartment in a location which is destined to become one of Edinburgh‚s most sought after areas to live. Not only are the prices affordable but the views are simply stunning."
Upper Strand's show home will be open daily from 10am until 5.30pm. For information call US on 0131 552 0979 or log on to www.upperstrand.com.
