Stunning affordable apartments with views over the Firth or Forth and Fife will be unveiled at the launch of a new showhome at the Upper Strand development on Edinburgh's Waterfront this Saturday, 16th September.
The new, two bedroom apartments on Waterfront Avenue have been kitted out to appeal to first time buyers, young professionals and families, with prices ranging from £172,500 to £197,000, with car parking facilities available under separate negotiation.
Many of the one and two bedroom apartments have already been sold at the Upper Strand development, which is part of the larger Waterfront Edinburgh Ltd regeneration programme, a joint venture between urban regeneration specialists, The Burrell Company, and Places for People.
The elegantly designed two bedroom, garden showhome, using furniture from Muji, Habitat and BoConcept, is styled to allow new homeowners the opportunity to see how easily and inexpensively it is to create a natural, warm living space. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and the second bedroom has a sliding door with access into the lounge allowing the room to be divided up into a dining room or a large study.
Andrew Burrell, Managing Director of The Burrell Company, said: "The showhome at the Upper Strand development has been designed to complement the garden terrace and showcase the area running from the apartment to the outdoors.
"The style and design is minimal but impressive and destined to appeal to all ages and tastes, giving people the chance to imagine the completed look."
One of the most impressive features in the showhome is the galley kitchen, complete with modern appliances, leading into the terraced garden.
The kitchen is fitted with Bosch appliances, supplied by leading manufacturer, ALNO, The bathroom is stylishly designed with a white suite and chrome fittings and bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. Timber oak laminate flooring is fitted in the hallway, living and kitchen areas, and bedrooms accessed from the lounge.
Upper Strand, involving two award winning architects, Edinburgh-based Reiach & Hall and Glasgow-based Elder & Cannon, has already been recognised as one of the best examples of housing design, layout and landscaping in the UK, after being named Best Housing Project at the National HomeBuilder Design Awards last year. The development has also been shortlisted by the Scottish Design Awards 2006 as a potential 'Proposed Place Making' winner.
The area, which is already home to the new Scottish Gas headquarters and the new £32 million Telford College campus, now open, will see up to 8,500 homes developed over the next 15 years.
Homeowners will also have the chance to view the overall plans for the development at the company's Research and Development Marketing Centre at the Upper Strand site, open daily from 10am - 5.30pm. These include tree-lined boulevards, wide walkways and cycle paths, leading to squares and piazzas enhanced by sculpture, water features and extensive planting. Additional features also include stunning views over the Firth of Forth and Fife from a number of properties, and a sophisticated recycling waste system which is the first of its kind in the UK, and an environmentally friendly heating system.
Colin Rae, Development Director in Scotland for The Places for People Group, added: "Upper Strand is a fantastic place for people not only buying their first property but also for those stepping up the property ladder and moving into a two bedroom home. The location, with stunning views over the city and Firth of Forth, affordability and easy access into Edinburgh City Centre makes apartments at the Upper Stand development a very desirable investment."
Further properties in a variety of different styles and layouts with terraces or balconies, are situated in the Tower development and available to view at the weekend only. These include one, two and three bedroom apartments. Prices in the region of £172,500.
Upper Strand's show home will be open daily from 10am until 5.30pm, and 7pm on Thursday.
