Andrew Burrell studied architecture and planning at the Architectural Association in London and at the University of Edinburgh. He worked as a consultant in both the public and private sectors in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh prior to forming Scotland's first professionally recognised architect/developer company in 1980.
He is currently chairman and managing director of The Burrell Company and its associated companies and subsidiaries. He is a director of several companies and serves as a trustee on a number of charitable trusts, including the chair of the Alba Conservation Trust, the Cockburn Conservation Trust, the building preservation trust for the Lothian and Borders of Scotland, and the Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Architecture, Design and the City.
John is an Architect, who was educated at the University of Edinburgh, where he won the Architecture Prize for best student, and the RIAS Rowan Anderson Prize and Silver Medal. In 1979 John was runner-up to the Rome Scholar.
In 1980 John formed an architectural practice in Vancouver with a fellow Canadian student. It was in Canada that he gained early experience of the role of an Architect as a Developer, a practice that, in the early eighties, was not normally accepted in the UK.
In 1988 John joined The Burrell Company. John is a Director of WASPS (Studio Provision for Artists) and has written various articles in publications on subjects such as Urban Regeneration, Inner-city Initiatives and Architects as Developers.
Raymond Ross studied accountancy and finance at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979. During his time in professional practice he specialised in investigations and corporate recovery for one of the "Big-3" accountancy practices for several years after qualifying, during which time he had significant "hands on" experience of running and managing companies.
He has significant experience of raising and structuring finance for property development transactions and of working and negotiating in a boardroom environment in both public and private companies including joint venture companies involving members of listed groups.
Lindsay Russell studied Building Technology at Glasgow College of Building in the late 1960's early 1970's.
He has gained over 30 years experience within the construction and property development industries, with senior managerial involvement in many major building, civil engineering and housing projects throughout the UK and abroad. His managerial experience includes the positions of Regional Manager for construction operations in Central Nigeria and Director/General Manager for construction operations in Gibraltar.
He spent 4 years with The Burrell Company between 1989 and 1993 returning in 1999.
He is responsible for the Project and Commercial Management of the Company's construction activities.
Natalie joined The Burrell Company in 1997 following a spell with the Scotch Whisky Association's Legal Team. Prior to that Natalie spent some time with General Guarantee for Finance looking after New Business and Collections.
Natalie has responsibility for managing the Sales and Marketing of The Burrell Company's prestigious developments as well as managing the PR function.
