An Early Kantel scheme on Calton Road. This involved the conversion of deep-plan redundant warehouses. Well-lit apartments were created by providing an internal light wall. The propasals were sited in an area considered at that time totally unsuitable for residential use. The execution was immaculate, intepreting timber details in a robust 'brewery' style. However to create the aesthetic, the scheme required over twenty relaxations of the building regulations. Across the road, Nick Groves Raines and John FOrbes, through Steinhuis, undertook a development in a remarkably similar style.
